Rivers widely acclaimed for his use of 8mm and 16mm film crosses between art and cinema. Largely developed by his own hands, Rivers produces film that has a definite texture. The physicality of the film itself envelopes both the subject matter and spectator. The Highlands of Scotland is the key backdrop to River's award winning film 'Two Years at Sea', where he creates a portrait of Jake Williams, a character who lives outside of society. For whatever reason Jake chooses to keep his own company in the wilds of Scotland. Rivers spent many years filming Jake and has again returned to Scotland for this special commission.

We are delighted to introduce our first video art whisky edition. Rivers has produced a video work to accompany his whisky 'One for The Road'. Shot in 16mm we see Jake William's for the first time in colour. Old tyres, blue gas canisters and a couple of cans of Tennent's set the stage. Williams dressed in ochre overalls goes electric as he sings 'MORE THAN JUST A DRAM' in this heart-warming rendition. Fixing the work firmly in 2014 or the not so distant future, a vote YES sticker is stuck to William's bespoke, double necked guitar.

As with all of our editions the whisky is accompanied by a beautiful print produced by Poligrafa. The accompanying print is an etching by Rivers, perhaps showing his less familiar side as a draughtsman. A single faceless figure occupies the centre of the page dressed in a skirt or perhaps a kilt. With a bucket as a hat and a walking stick in hand, it is not so difficult to imagine this mysterious figure appearing in a future film by Rivers. Designed by the artist and crafted by Greg Cox in London, the bottle is presented in a rough sawn cherry wood box, branded with a walking stick insignia.

Ben Rivers is the recipient of numerous awards, most recently the Art Angel commission that will be shown in 2015. Rivers will also have a solo exhibition at Camden Arts Centre later this year. Other awards include FIPRESCI International Critics Prize, 68th Venice Film Festival for his first feature film Two Years At Sea, The Baloise Art Prize, Art Basel 42, shortlisted for the Jarman Award 2010/2012; Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award for Artists, 2010.
